TrickGo presents: Hilary White “A Mystery of Seven Thunders”

We’re very excited to be presenting one of our favorite Philadelphia artists for a solo exhibition: Hilary White, “A Mystery of Seven Thunders”

We saw Hilary White‘s work for the first time last year and were completely taken a back by it’s size, stunning beauty, and use of materials. In short, White covers all types of mediums from sculpture to screen printing, from painting to paper works. Everything she does isn’t short of amazing.

Born in Brownsville, Texas in 1982, raised in Gainesville, Florida, began studying painting at the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship in the year 2000. In 2001 transferred to Colorado University in Boulder to run on an athletic scholarship and study sculpture. After a year of competing for the university decided to give up the scholarship and focus completely on studying art. Took a year off from school and took classes in welding while working odd jobs before attending the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2003. Interests progressed from painting, to interactive sculpture, then installation. Graduated with a B.F.A in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in June 2007. Currently living and working in Philadelphia with husband Steven Speir.

Hilary has some great treats in store for us as she will be completely transforming our space using sight and sound.

We’ll also be having our friends from Epsicle’s Ice Pops hanging out with their gourmet icey treats (mango chili-pepper, cucumber-mint, & more). Our mouth is watering.

And as always… beer for the masses.

It’s all happening next Saturday, May 21st at 6 pm. See you then!

‘My First Worst Nightmare’ at Part Time Studios

For this upcoming, First Friday event, Part Time Studios will be hosting ‘My First Worst Nightmare,’ a solo exhibition by Philadelphia artist Steven Speir.  For this exhibition, Steven found inspiration in the stories of friends, and acquaintances as they recalled their first, worst nightmare.

His latest paintings are taken from the sub-conscious of Saturday morning cartoons and the innocence of childhood nightmares.

Featured in the exhibition will be: paintings, screen-prints, stickers, shirts, and installation.

Opening Reception:  Friday, April 1, 2011,  6 – 10 pm
Show runs from April 1 – April 30, 2011
